Session on Civic Rights and Community Engagement
The Department of Community Dentistry, HITEC-IMS Dental College, organized an awareness session on “Civic Rights and Community Engagement” on 10th November 2025 as part of the Higher Education Commission’s initiative to promote civic education among university students. The session aimed to build awareness about civic rights and responsibilities, encourage active citizenship, and highlight the role of dentists in contributing to community well-being.
The event was conducted in collaboration with the Potohar Organization for Development Advocacy (PODA). The guest team included Advocate Khwaja Zahid Nasim, Advocate Aiman Zahra, Program Coordinator Hamza Bashir, and Project Officer Sohail Yousaf.
The session featured interactive presentations and group activities that engaged students in discussions about community participation and professional empathy. A pre- and post-assessment was conducted to evaluate students’ understanding of civic concepts and the impact of the session.
The event was graced by the Principal of Dental College, and the faculty of 2nd Year BDS was also in attendance. The session was organized under the supervision of Dr. Maria Rabbani (HOD, Community Dentistry), along with team members Dr. Khadija Tariq and Dr. Amna Faisal, who coordinated and facilitated the activities.
The program concluded with a shield presentation to the PODA representatives and a vote of thanks from the department, appreciating their valuable contribution. Overall, the session proved to be an insightful and engaging experience, inspiring students to become socially responsible professionals and active members of their community.
