An IMECon–CPSP 2026 Pre-Conference Workshop on Patient Safety was successfully conducted at the Dental College, HITEC Institute of Medical Sciences (HITEC-IMS). The workshop was held in a highly conducive academic environment and was attended by enthusiastic participants from dental education and clinical backgrounds.
The workshop commenced with an introductory session by Dr. Irfan, Principal HITEC-IMS, who highlighted the importance of patient safety as a core professional and ethical responsibility in healthcare. This was followed by an awareness session on patient safety delivered by Prof. Mahwash Jamil and Dr. Nadia Tayyab, who emphasized key patient safety principles, common safety challenges in clinical practice, and the need for a systems-based approach to preventing harm.
To translate theory into practice, the workshop incorporated role plays and interactive scenarios, allowing participants to actively engage with real-life patient safety situations. Subsequently, Dr. Fatima Rizwan led a focused session on integrating patient safety concepts into the curriculum, addressing how awareness can be transformed into structured teaching, learning, and assessment aligned with national standards.
The session concluded with group tasks, which reinforced the discussed concepts through teamwork, reflection, and application. These activities were highly engaging and helped consolidate learning outcomes effectively.
Overall, the workshop received very positive feedback and was described as highly interactive and engaging by participants. The success of the workshop was largely attributed to the supportive and positive leadership of the Principal Dental College, HITEC-IMS, which fostered an environment conducive to meaningful learning and collaboration.
