Message

Biostatistics provides combination of statistical principal and tools to provide guidelines about the problems in medical sciences, public health and analyzing medical field data by using statistics software’s and techniques. Biostatistical modelling is a crucial component of many current biological ideas. Statistical ideas have been employed in genetics investigations since the beginning to understand observed experimental outcomes. Biostatistics helps students to study their medical field related data under the principals of statistics and get their required results about the data.

Policy

Data Analysis Unit will help the researchers by training and giving them guidance in arranging, analyzing, interpreting and presentation of their research data as and when they required.

SOPs

GENERAL SOPs:

The researcher should clearly mention the purpose of the research analysis.
The researcher must provide all the necessary and required information about the research for the data analysis.
The researcher must contact through proper channel. i.e. (IRB)
Sample size should be clearly mentioned, it helps to check the number of participants or observations included in a study. The size of a sample influences two statistical properties:
The precision of our estimates (results).
The power of the study to draw conclusions.
Nature of the data should be clearly mentioned.(Qualitative data/Quantitative data)
Quantitative data are numerical in nature.
Qualitative data are descriptive (categorical) in nature.
According to the nature of the data normality of the data is to be checked, sometime it is normally distributed and sometimes not normal, if it is normal then parametric tests are used otherwise non parametric tests are applicable.
Reliability of the data should be checked according to the strategy that is to be implemented on data analysis. Data reliability means the data is complete, accurate and provide consistent results.
Sampling strategy should be described (probability sampling or non-probability sampling) if sampling analysis required.
Probability sampling means selection is based on the principle of randomization.
Non-probability sampling means selection is based on personal judgment.
Data collection method should be clearly mentioned as the data is primary or secondary.
The source of the data should be clearly mentioned.

FACULTY SOPS:

The faculty must follow all the general SOPs mentioned above.
The data analysis will be processed only after the permission of the concerned Head of the department of the researcher and head of the research cell department.
The faculty must submit an application to the research cell for processing of their data.
