Introduction

The department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Dental College, HITEC IMS is a one of its kind, state of the art facility located inside the cantonment of fertile lands of Taxila.

The Department was established on 1^st September 2016 as part of the HITEC IMS Medical and Dental College and first patient was operated on 2^nd September 2016 in the HIT Hospital which was the first ever Maxillofacial Surgery case in the hospital’s history.

The OMFS department has an OPD attached with the dental college and the indoor facilities are located inside the HIT Hospital which is ideally located across the road in Taxila Cantonment.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is fully committed to patient care, student education, service to community and profession, continuing dental education, scientific research and publications.

The department aims at maintaining high levels of surgical competence and at providing world class treatment standard to patients of all socio-economic statuses. Service to community and humanity remains our foremost priority.

Mission

To provide the highest quality of oral surgical and maxillofacial treatment to all patients, to teach innovative and new techniques to undergraduate students and encourage the learning capabilities of students and cultivate innovative research to improve the quality of oral surgical procedures performed in the department.

Dr. Maimoona Siddiq completed her BDS in the year 2007 from Karachi Medical and Dental College. After completing her FCPS part II training in Oral &Maxillofacial Surgery from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital-Karachi, she joined Dental College HITEC-IMS as registrar, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2016. She was promoted as Assistant Professor-OMFS in 2021. In the year 2023 she completed her CHPE from Shifa Tameer e Millat University. Currently, she is doing MHPE from the National University of Medical Sciences. She holds more than 12 research publications in various medical journals. She is heading the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery since 2022. She is Head of CME-CPD activities. She is member of the procurement committee. She also holds the responsibility as a tour in charge of Hospital Facilities & Safety Tour for PMDC and NUMS routine visits.
