Introduction

Department will assure the quality of academic standards in the light of instructions and guidelines of PMC, HEC, and other regulatory authorities. It shall act as a hub of the formulation and implementation of academic policies of Dental College, HITEC IMS in liaison with faculty and administration. Department provides leadership, guidance, training, and service and to the faculty members in respect of the development of new curriculum, assessment, research, skill lab, feedback, evaluation, and self-appraisal

Department of Dental Education will promote quality in education, leadership, and scholarship in Dental Education nationally and internationally and hence contribute to quality healthcare.

Mission

The mission of DDE is to develop, monitor, and evaluate Dental Education standards to local needs based on best evidence theory and practice in Dental Education for the ultimate purpose of improving patient care through the institutional mission

Objectives

The mission of DDE will be achieved locally, nationally, and internationally through collaboration, consultation, training, and service within Dental College, HITEC-IMS, NUMS, and other organizations in the following areas;

Name : Dr. Faizan Munir Khan

Qualification : BDS, CHPE, MHPE

Dr. Faizan Munir Khan graduated from the National University of Health Sciences from the alma mater of Margalla Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS) in 2014. He performed ‘Certification in Health Professional Education’ (CHPE) in 2018 and ‘Masters In Health Professional Education’ in 2021, both from Riphah International University. He started his professional career by serving at the Rawal Institute of Health Sciences (RIHS) in 2016. He joined the Dental College, HITEC-IMS, Taxila in 2017. He has been serving as an Assistant Professor & Head of the Department of Dental Education Department since 2022. He has to his credit, multiple scientific publications in national academic journals. He regularly facilitates Faculty Development & Continuing Medical Education Activities. He has been credited by the National University of Health Sciences (NUMS) for contributing to the integrated curriculum development for 1st Year BDS and as the primary curriculum developer for an integrated curriculum for 2nd Year BDS for the BDS program provided by the NUMS University. He was also appointed as a Postgraduate Supervisor for the MHPE training program of NUMS University in 2024.
