Interactive Lecture Organized by the Biomedical Department for House Officers
The Biomedical Department HITEC-IMS organized a two-hour interactive lecture for house officers at Dental College HITEC-IMS Taxila on 27th February 2026 to enhance their understanding of biomedical equipment commonly used in dental practice. The session was facilitated by a Biomedical engineer, Mr. Ibtasam Ali Malik, and was co-facilitated by Dr. Sharaz and Prof Dr Irfan Shah. The event was specifically designed for young graduates who have recently completed their house job, preparing them for their upcoming professional responsibilities.
The lecture focused on introducing participants to the basic principles, functions, and safe operation of essential dental biomedical equipment frequently encountered in clinical settings. Equipment such as dental units, curing lights, ultrasonic scalers, suction systems, and autoclaves was discussed to provide participants with a clear understanding of their working mechanisms and practical applications.
During the session, the facilitator also highlighted common technical issues and troubleshooting techniques that dental practitioners may encounter in routine practice. Emphasis was placed on identifying minor equipment faults, understanding basic maintenance procedures, and adopting appropriate preventive measures to ensure the efficient functioning and longevity of dental equipment.
